Anticipation
It is that time of the year... December 23rd. Today has been an exciting today. I woke up this morning to the ringing of a doorbell. To my surprise, because I had mostly forgotten, I had entered one of those "Win a Car!" contests because my friend had wanted me to. Rather to just do it instead of explain that they are a waste of time, correct? Well, the impossible became possible as a cute lady was at my doorstep, jangling a pair of keys. I now have a 2003 black Jeep Wrangler taking up space in my driveway next to my pickup... who would've thought it might've been possible? Damn. Anyways, after that nice surprise (which I will probably give to my 18-yr old brother who has been crying over having a cheap 1996 Plymouth Neon to drive forever), I now eagerly await Christmas. The time of year that everyone both loves and loathes has come, and I am stuck in the Christmas ditches of having to wait through traffic and long lines for purchasing presents for my dear ones. I hate waiting to shop late, but it has become a sticky habit. Ah well, perhaps one day I will break it. Tomorrow night, I shall celebrate at my great grandmother's house. The people that I once knew as a child, now have forgotten due to an immense family tree, shall be there, all with gifts for each other, while I sit with my niece in my lap, just staring around, waiting for someone I know. The next day brings my grandmother on my mother's sides Christmas holiday at my aunt's house. I love most of these people, and are who I love to celebrate Christmas with. The time comes when you wonder, "Just what is Christmas all about?" And I tell myself... "Maybe Christmas is who you spend it with." I do not really know. I am no philosopher. All I know is that the time of the year has come, and the new year will come even sooner. Feel happy, all.
